From the Mouth of Craig: The wrong spoon

We have big spoons and little spoons. Craig only loves the little spoons. After playing with words today Craig came in to me holding a large spoon (shown below). His head was hanging and we was very very sad.

Craig: "Mama, Daddy forgot! He forgot to give me a lower case spoon! And he gave me this uppercase spoon instead! Oh mama! He forgot!"

Nice connection there buddy! He relates these spoons to a lot of things. For example when you zoom in on a map or picture you push the plus sign. When you zoom out you hit the minus sign.

So he often says things like "I need the minus spoon! Not the plus one! Silly mama!"

I love the stuff he comes up with. Sometimes it takes a minute to make the connection myself but it's usually pretty good, and always makes me smile!

randomly coordinated

My sister made us shirts for Christmas around the "Hunt Information Center" theme. We all love them. On this particular day I realized after we were all dressed that we had all picked to wear the shirts she made! It made me smile, so of course, we took pictures!

The Craft Revealed

The bag is reversible!

Front and Back
of the wipes case

I've tried several different ways of carrying my diapers and wipes around but I haven't loved any of them. So I took the things that I liked about each of the different things and combined them to make my own! I love it! In fact I love it so much that I ironed out all the kinks and made this one for my sister in law for her baby shower.  It's reversible too. I've been using mine for almost a year and have loved it to pieces. in fact I'm thinking I might need to make another one for myself since I have made some improvements in the design!

 all together!

Primary

Craig participated in the opening exercises in primary for the first time and LOVED it. He most certainly does not have stage fright. I was so proud of him. I had told him the week before that he would be giving the scripture and we walked through it a couple of times. But not wanted to get him tired of it I pretty much didn't mention it during the week.

Then Sunday he informed me that he did not want my help. And although I didn't get a video of the actual thing, this is pretty much what he did in primary (Except he did go slower):

What he said:
"For behold this is all my work and glory (craigo touch there)
to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man"

I sure am proud of him.

Craig is in Sunbeams now. It took some convincing to get him to go the first couple of times but last Sunday I was feeling quite ill so we were going to go home early and he cried and cried because he wanted to stay. I was so shocked and pleased that we decided to stay anyways. My boy is growing up.

P.S. Although I am glad that my phone will record videos the quality of the video and sound really bothers me! I wish we had a decent camera that would capture these moments better!

Playing at the park

As described earlier we went on a picnic to the park today. It was such a beautiful day and we all had so much fun playing together! I love my family so much!

It was fun to play with Craig and watch K.C. run around and be a wonderful daddy. I sure love those two!

Savannah slept for the first part of the party. (or so I thought) I peaked in to check on her and this is what I found!
Love those dimples! Love those eyes! That smile!
Gosh I love my girl!

Climbing a hill so Craig could throw the Frisbee! He sort of got the idea!

Then he slid down the hill and started digging saying/singing: I'm digging a hole! I'm digging to the bottom on the world! Daddy! will you help me?"

Unfortunately there was a very large amount of rabbit droppings on the grass and in the dirt so Savannah and I hung out on the side walk.

Savannah loves, I mean LOVES those rings. If she can find one she will NOT let go of it. Getting her out of the car seat? forget it mom, the ring goes through the strap too! She fell asleep? Did she let go? NO! and better yet when she woke up she was still hanging on!

Best toy she's ever had.

I must confess that I use it to my advantage though because she also has a less than desirable habit of pinching. Not just pinching, it's more like, grabbing, clawing, scratching and pinching. OK it's not just less than desirable it drives me crazy! And it hurts! I trim her nails, I do, but I just can't keep up. So my trick is this. If I give her a ring to hold then her oh so busy hand and fingers are content and my poor skin is safe!

I love these pants! And her little shoes. I couldn't resist. They needed a picture. And I quite like how it turned out! :)

So we had a fun day at the park. My parents came on their 2 seated bike and we rode the bike trails around there too. (meaning them and Craig rode and K.C. and I alternated trying to keep up and pushing them up the hills!)

Craig made a new friend. It was pretty cute. He rode up to the little guy (Crew) who was also on a bike (with training wheels) and said "We're a team! Let's go!" Then Craig very politely asked his mom if he could come and said "thank you" when she said yes. So they rode around together for a while. It was cute. I hope we run into them again.

I'm so glad the warm weather is coming back! It just fills everything will life and happiness. Welcome Spring!

Yes this is a tree in my back yard. Yes it was taken a few weeks ago. Yes it is budding, and Yes I LOVE St George!

Cute little hands...

Doing cute little things:

I love watching these little hands!

Here's a personal favorite. My sweet little princess knows exactly where she wants to go. She also knows exactly how to tell you! This is a classic (and constant) around here. THE POINT!

But it gets better. It's not just a point with the finger, it's a full body effort. Leaning, pointing, looking, head tucked into her shoulder...

IT'S ADORABLE!
Don't forget the dancer touch. Look at that wrist!
 Look at that face!

This is the stuff that favorite memories are made of!

From the Mouth of Craig: Reindeer don't fly

So today we went to a park for a picnic and bike ride.
(Craig LOVES to ride his little glider bike. He goes zooming everywhere and just loves to coast down hills.)

We were having lots of fun watching Craig slide down the "Fireman's Pole" and then zooming off on his bike to put out a fire.
 Trying it the first time...

 Good to go!

 Get the safety gear...

And Rescue Squad Craig is off!
(although he did correct us and tell us that he was Rescue Squad Mater!)

 Racing off to the rescue!
(Feet up the whole way! He's so steady these days!)

He was all about that pole when we told him it was a Fireman's pole! We sate back and watched as he did the sequence over and over.

Anyway, after a few minutes of that we stopped to have our picnic. During the middle of lunch and completely out of the blue Craig says:

"When I grow big I will be a reindeer!"

Daddy: (chuckling) That sounds like fun, then you will be able to fly!

Craig: SILLY Daddy, reindeer don't know how to fly, they walk in the water! (hands and feet moving to illustrate) See?

Daddy: (aghast at learning that reindeer don't know how to fly and chuckling louder) Where did that come from?

Craig: (very matter-of-factly) From my mouth.

(He pauses for a moment)

Craig: Actually from my head!

Perfectionist Craig

Craig is definitely my son. This is a very long video, but I enjoy it because it shows his little personality so much. I wish my phone took better videos. It's kind of blurry and the sound is weird but I still like it.

He folds this cloth SO carefully. And as he unfolds everything he rearanges and constantly adjusts everythng to make sure it's 'just right.' such a perfectionist!

He has found several cloths and wrapped his pirate treasures up in them. There's:

a cork,
a sword,
a look througher thingy (spyglass),
a which way goer thingy (compass)
and a light remote! :)

So many personality traits displayed here! Oh and this was taken back in October. Yeah. I'm more than a little behind on the video posting!

First time for everything

So we had a couple of firsts this last week.

First time knocking Craig off the back of my bike and giving him one very big scrape on his back from my tire! Oh can I tell you how bad I felt. So BAD! Bad bad mommy! I was just trying to give him a ride because the little trooper had just ridden 3 miles on his little strider bike and he was so tired! But my good idea turned sour quite quickly. Thankfully it's almost healed now and he's been the sweetest guy about it. Even when K.C. was cleaning it with Hydrogen Peroxide!

First time calling the ambulance for one of our children. And let me just say... I don't ever want to do that again. Savannah found a small piece of a candy wrapper and was chocking on it. REALLY chocking. Freaking us out chocking. So K.C. called 911. (I'm so glad the fire station is only 1/2 mile away!) But thankfully she swallowed it before they got here and they checked her lungs and breathing and all seemed just fine. The culprit showed its self several days later in her diaper. So I'm very glad that it is no longer in her system somewhere for me to worry about.

We don't like to drag things out in our family. No sir! So to get all of these delightful firsts out of the way we just went ahead and did them all in one day. Yep, Craig in afternoon, Savannah that night. In fact the reason that we were distracted enough to not catch Savannah sooner was because we had Craig sprawled out on the floor dressing his wound. Savannah took advantage of the situation. Just imagine. Here I am agonizing about my poor boy, feeling like a terrible mother, trying to take care of him and make it better (if I could) and then to my horror my daughter starts chocking! (Self esteem plummeting. panic rising!) Then when the paramedics are on there way I realize the scene they're going to come in on... A wounded boy, a chocking girl, a frantic mom and a daddy trying to hold us all together. What are they going to think about us as parents? This didn't help my anxiety any.

But thankfully K.C. finished Craig up very quickly and we got all of the medical kit put away just as the doorbell rang. I must admit that I breathed a sigh of relief when the scene they came in on was not one that screamed "REPORT THESE PARENTS NOW!"

I. Was. Exhausted.

And, I think next time we'll go for a first of something a little less traumatic!

From the Mouth of Craig: Grown ups

Craig "Where's daddy going?"

Mama "Home Teaching"

Craig "I want to go!"

Mama "It's only for grown ups"

Craig "I'm a grown up!"

Mama "Can you drive the Ali Car?"

Craig pauses for a moment and thinks then:

"Mama, if your name is Craig, you don't drive the Ali car, but you sit in your car seat, then you're a grown up!"

Gasps in delighted surprise as if this thought had just occurred to him, "Ah, my name is Craig! I'm a grown up!"
