Flexible.

This is the point where I need to stop. Take a deep breath and remember that plans can change. I can be flexible right? Not playing out the way I had in mind isn't necessarily a bad thing right?... RIGHT??!! Sigh.

Don't miss church / A sad good bye

We learned a lesson the hard way. You better not miss church. Because if you do, you might not have a ward any more.

Last week our kids weren't feeling well so we stayed home from church. We went out to my parents and K.C. was working on a drum for a Cub Scout Arrow of Light Ceremony. While we were out there we got a call from a friend informing us that we missed quite the shake up at church. The ward had been dissolved!

What?!

Wow. Red Ledge ward was disolved and chopped into 3 chunks. Those chunks were added to other wards. Our chunk was added to the Quail Ridge ward.

It was kind of sad for K.C. to realize that he was no longer the Cub Master. He has been working hard and loving the scouting for 2 years and it was totally out of the blue to just be cut off. We worked hard on our little 1770 pack. It was sad to see it and the boys and other leaders go. I'm sure other things are in store for us. But it was still sad to so abruptly say goodbye.

When we went to church on Sunday in our new ward we just met for Sacrament Meeting. There were lots of faces that we knew and obviously lots that we didn't. I'm so excited to enlarge my circle of friends and get to know these people. I think it's going to be great. I can't wait to see what is in store for us in this ward.

Funny note:

We have lived in the same house for 2.5 years. In that time we have been in
-the 2nd Ward - Meeting in the Bldg on Main street (then that got dissolved)
-the Red Ledge Ward - Meeting in the Capilla bldg, then and chappel out of even our stake boundaries, then the Northbridge bld.
-the Quail Ridge Ward - Meeting in the Stake Center.

Funny. 1 house, 2 years, 3 wards, 5 buildings.

And did I mention the spitting?

Spitting everywhere. Not spit-UP just making an insane amount of noise, lips flying, spit flying, and successfully spraying everything around with a good layer of moisture... add a good squeal and what could be better! Oh Savannah. You crack me up!

Just now she was putting her mouth on my arm and then blowing (as many people might do on a youngsters tummy :) she seemed so pleased with the new noises. haha.

Squealing. This is a particular delight to Savannah. and I must say I think it's pretty cute myself. She could be having a regular old conversation with all of her squawks and squeals. And they have a distinct girly sound to them. I love it. I have a few videos that I'll try to post.

More crawling on the hands and knees too! and eating... oh the eating!

she doesn't much care for "you" feeding her but if you give her the spoon she loves it. So the program is this. Get 2 spoons. Load one up and hand it to her. Load the other up while she finishes the first. She then discards the old and goes for the new so you retrieve the oh so sticky first spoon and load it up! It's great fun. and she eats quite a lot this way. It's a good thing that babies are able to soak up nutrition through their hands, chins, cheeks, necks... etc. Because that's where a lot of the food ends up at this point. But I must admit a surprising amount of it actually gets in the mouth and stays there.
In true Hunt style she is not lacking in the drool area. Just like Craig she is constantly soaking things and chewing on things.

As the wise author D. Clark Farr said..."When the closest river is running down your chin ... chances are, you're a baby."

I guess in all honesty she doesn't produce quite as much wetness at Craig did and the fronts of her clothes aren't constantly soaked, that mostly happens when she's chewing on something, which she LOVES to do.

Creeper Crawler

And she's off! Savannah has been on her hands and knees a lot and moving just a bit that way before flopping back to her tummy and taking off.

But yesterday she just up and crawled on all fours for a few feet! Go baby Go!

photographer and barber

Craig loves it when he gets to use my camera. He saw me playing with it and wanted to take a picture, I think he did good!

Savannah loves Craig.
She always wants to do what he's doing
and she gives him some pretty good smiles too!

Craig also loves scissors. He's very good with them and only cuts paper. Only APPROVED paper. And he is very good to ask whenever he wants to cut anything else. Usually.

He decided to cut his hair. I guess there's a first for everything. And thank goodness he's a boy and it will grow back soon! When we noticed and were asking him why he'd done it he was very appologetic and kept saying that he was sorry but he just needed his hair to not be so long!

So I grabbed my hair cutting kit and gave him a hair cut right then. I couldn't hide it all but I think it looks better!

Craig speaks

Craig was asking who wrote a book called seuss-sms. After KC told him and named off several other books that Dr. Seuss wrote Craig was satisfied.

A minute later he said.

"I wrote 'Fat Cat on a Mat'. It's by me. I'm a new doctor. I'm Dr Craigo Seuss."

A little after KC and I had been talking of Dr Seuss's real name Craig piped up.

"Did you know there's a new word for Theodore Geisel? It's Dr Seuss."

He actually got this one right!
Oh the funny things he thinks up!

There's a new word...

for just about everything these days.

This is something that I hear a lot from Craig lately. "Mama, there's a new word for (insert word) it's (insert way random word or totally made up word.)"

Example.

While singing twinkle twinkle little star
"Mama there's a new word for twinkle. It's 'A'"
proceedes to sing the song... pauses
"There's a new word for diamond too. It's sippy cup."

Continues singing... "A A little star how I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high like a sippy cup in the sky, A A little star how I wonder what you are!"

a few others have been
Cheeseburger - new word is bogburger
happy - new word flappy

Look out world! Here she comes!

Here's the latest!

Today while I was playing with the RAW settings on my camera Savannah was having the time of her life with this chair! She made a pretty good little practice model for me!

Savannah:
Look what I can do!
Mommy likes to help me balance on stuff but I tricked her good this time!
I waited till she had that HUGE camera in her hands

and then I seized the opportunity!
Before she knew it I pulled on that ol' chair and stood up!
It was a little tricky when I only held on with one hand,
but I think I did pretty good.

Later while we were watching a movie I disappeared under the coffee table.
mom thought she would soon see me come out the other side
but I tricked her again.
I didn't come out.
When she peeked to see what I was up to she found that
I had sat myself up and was peering up through the
glass at the various objects above me!
What fun! They sure put some funny looking stuff up there!

Sometimes when it's time to feed her I'll sit down across the room and tell her that if she'll come to me I'll feed her. She comes right over! But you can tell that she wants to go faster because she starts getting frustrated. She starts getting up on all fours and then flopping down to her belly and crawling more. Lately the pattern has shifted from 'mostly on the belly' to less than half the time on the belly. She's started crawling forward several paces at at time but on her elbows and knees. It's kind of funny to watch! But she makes steady and pretty fast progress.

Fun little Savannah, I'm so glad you're my daughter!

From the inside looking out - and more

So the last several times I've gone in to get Savannah out of her crib have been fun because she is STANDING in her crib waiting for me!

I was totally shocked the first time a couple of days ago when I went in to find that she had pulled herself up and was just looking around the room. It seemed as if she was saying...

"Ahhh! So this is what is on the other side of the bumper!"

And now instead of having her fall asleep soon after laying her down we have to go in over and over again to pull her off the railing and lay her back down. But she seems so delighted with her new ability that I can't help but find it cute.

Love that girl.

Other updates:

Gave her her second hair cut yesterday. All of the 'one hair stragglers' are gone and I trimmed up the sides and top so hopefully it will all grow back in looking even and nice. I was worried but I think it looks a lot better.

Her army crawl is getting to be more and more of a crawl, crawl, pop up to hands and knees and lung forward, crawl, crawl, pop back up... pattern. It's a little slower going but she's getting better and better on the hands and knees program.

She LOVES to climb over anything she can find!

One that I'm not too thrilled about is that she is now rather un-happy to be left anywhere by herself. If I put her down and walk away it's instant meltdown. And then she follows me around quite put out until I come back or pick her up. I'm hoping that this is just a result of her not feeling well right now and needing some extra comfort. (I really hope) But my other thought was she ALWAYS seems to be hungry. ALWAYS even if it's only been an hour since she ate. So I'm wondering if I started her on more solids and her tummy was more full if she wouldn't always be trying to chase me down and beg for food. Either way I hope we can get it figured out so she can go back to being her happy go lucky 'somewhat self entertaining' self. :)

BOO!

So Halloween isn't exactly a huge deal at our house. We always wonder if we're going to do something this year... then we always do. It goes about like this.

an hour before we want to leave.

"I guess we should have some costumes."

So I grab some scraps. Whip up some costumes, and we're off.

Cute little family!
One HOT Batman.
(and yes I did make that costume... No I didn't do it in 20 min.
It was made before hand for a Cub Scout training)

This year it was
Batman
Catwoman
Hiccup &
Astrid

Milestones Big and Small

So I'm not procrastinating anymore...
It's gonna be quite to the point and probably quite long because it's going to cover 5 months! But no longer will it be on random papers getting lost around the house. And no longer dependent on my memory to keep it all straight!

May 17 2010
Savannah Was born - I'd say that's a pretty good milestone!
See her Birthday Post for more details

. Getting used to her track...
. digging her toes in,
. lifting her head,
. pushing off the side

May 22 - 5 days:
. Umbilical cord fell off
. And her first smile! She must have been proud of herself.

 May 25 - 8 days:
. Scooted 1.5 ft under her own power.
. She was probably loving not having that cord!

May 27 - 10 days:
. Scooted down her track, 4.5 feet of crawling distance for her.
. Got her PKU, 8lbs 4oz see her 1 Week Old post for more details
. Still had tons of hair!
. getting better and better head control

May 29 - 12 days:
. Scooted 9 feet (on the track)

June 2  - 2 Weeks:
. Scooted 5x down the track, 22.5 ft.
. Crawled OFF the track.
. Made it 2 or 3 feet on the carpet.
(She was almost into our bedroom when daddy picked her up)
. Fist attempted photo shoot
. holding her head up really good.

. Happily crawling the track! And looking around too.

June 25 - 5 Weeks
. Rolled over from stomach to back.

. Always wakes up HAPPY.
(As soon as she see's me she is nothing but smiles! It is SO adorable. I love sneaking up on her when she's waking up so I can get those most precious smiles. Such a good happy baby.)

. Craig is always sweet to his sister

Aug 21 - 3 months:
. First Hair cut
Her hair had started to get thin on the sides and she had a few very long strands, along with a mullet. I basically just evened everything that I could up and cut the mullet off.

. She also started to WANT things and crawl to them.
Instead of just moving for the sake of moving, she was definitely doing it on purpose and crawling TO toys or books or whatever she saw that she wanted. SO exciting!

. Starts sitting on her own
. hair still getting thinner. Sad.
. Really getting good at cross pattern crawling (army style)
